Bill Frist Lies about Stocks and Blind TrustBill Frist has proven that he has no reservations whatsoever when it comes to making false statements to the public. The republican party has sold itself as the party of ethics and values. Yet here we have a celebrated republican leader who for eleven years held stock in a family owned company while voting on bills that directly affect those stocks. If that isn't enough, Bill Frist of Tennesse displays clear dishonesty and a willingness to mislead whoever is listening. While appearing on CNBC...
On Meet the Press, Frist says about his claim, "I could’ve been more precise." Regular people in real America would not have said what Frist said. Clearly Frist knew he had HCA stock going into the "blind trust". Frist went on to say....
Most people identify a blind trust as a trust where the executors have control over the assets. That doesn't mean what Bill Frist said of it on CNBC. And as the facts show, Bill Frist had regular knowledge of the status of the HCA holdings in the "blind trust", culminating in the sale of the stock shortly after this statement. This sale was also made before shortly before the share price tanked on bad surprise news. If the GOP were truly what it markets itself as, there would be an outcry by republicans for Bill Frist to come clean and make a public apology. The people of Tennesse should be embarassed for having had sent him to Washington. Instead, the silence is deafening and quite telling.
