Another Wild, Baseless Stereotype from Rush...

It is amazing how Rush can speak for all democrats and his listeners lap it up as if there is some sound study serving as a foundation. Unfair characterizations such as the following define Rush's show and unfortunately, serve only to short circuit debate.

They HATE war heroes! They always have. But now, they suddenly found one to call their own so they can run around trying to make you think they are the big HAWKS!. These people phonies. This is who they are.

Just as he does everyday, Rush makes an unfair, sweeping mischaracterization. A consequence of Rush's statement is all liberals hate war heroes. This statement totally fails on its face. David Bonior, Tom Daschle, Max Cleland, Daniel Inouye, Charles Rangel, Tom Harkin and many others proudly served in the military and they happen to be democrats. There are also literally millions of veterans who are democrats but not politicians. How can it be they "hate war heroes"?

Maybe Rush didn't mean that all liberals "hate war heroes", even though that is a consequence of his statement. Still, Rush fails to supply the list of liberals he is aware of who have declared that they "hate war heroes". Because Rush issues this very damning statement, it must be that even one liberal has told him they "hate war heroes". Rush owes it to his listeners to supply some sort of basis for making such a divisive comment. It is also quite ironic that Rush, who evaded serving his country, thinks it is just fine to impugn the patriotism of a whole group of voters simply because he has a radio show to sell.

Rush goes on to suggest the democrats have finally found one. John Kerry has been a senator from MA for over 20 years. He has been a democrat the entire time. There is nothing sudden about John Kerry's public service. He was not drafted by the DNC. As to the democratic party "running around trying to make you think they are big hawks", this too breaks into pieces upon even light scrutiny. It is difficult to describe John Kerry as a "hawk".

Rush also neglected to consider this administration's cutting of benefits for veterans. If Rush wanted to find an action which goes in the direction of his damning comment, he should consider the benefit cuts. Of course, this doesn't help his assertion about liberals, rather it actually suggests war heroes are not high on the list of priorities for the "hawks" in the Whitehouse.

Rush's listeners, the public at large, veterans... we all deserve better. Too bad Rush's listeners eagerly stand by for being misinformed with profoundly unfair demagogery.
