Limbaugh in a Fit of Attack It is amazing that anyone takes Rush seriously. Conservatives like to assert that liberals are the ones guilty of caustic rhetoric and name calling yet they tune in to Rush's show and reward him for making wild, bizzare comments like those contained herein.
Rush never lets facts get in the way. He ignores the fact that miliatry action in Afghanistan was pretty much unanimous. Nobody was suggesting we "make deals with Osama". Rush's bit about who liberals enemies are is ludacris and bizarre. It is amazing that Rush thinks he is in a position to condemn those who disagree with Bush as unable, unwilling, unmotivated, etc. when it comes to defending this country. John Kerry, David Bonior, Tom Daschle, Max Cleland, Daniel Inouye, Charles Rangel, Tom Harkin and many others all know quite a bit about defending their country having served in the military. On the other hand there is Rush who used a pilondial cyst (boil) on his keister to avoid serving his country. The Bush administration told us Iraq posed a threat to our country. This was based on allegations of stockpiles of WMD, collusion with Al-Queda, etc. Cheney even insisted that Iraq had a nuclear weapon. The administration's rhetoric repeatedly put Sadam and Ossama in the same sentence, implying Sadam had somethting to do with 9/11. Thing of it is, no substantive evidence has been offered to justify any of this. The Iraq survey group has found no WMD, Colin Powell stated he doubts there were any weapons and doesn't believe Sadam and Al-Queda were in collusion. The "evidence" offered by Powell at the UN Security presentation broke upon scrutiny. General Zinni who led Centcom and immersed himself in the intelligence about Iraq stated, "not once did any of it say Sadam had WMD". We now have the situation where the president who campaiged against nation building, led the country into a unilateral invasion of a country that posed little threat and now we find ourselves in the biggest nation building effort since the Marshall Plan. The tax payers are spending 1 billion per week and over 500 American's have died. And we are still counting the blood and money. Questioning the legitimacy of the Iraq invasion and the wisdom of this administration's policy is logical and patriotic. Rush knows nothing about fact based debate. Instead he uses demagoguery and wild allegations to affirm the prejudices of his listeners. It is unfortunate they cannot seem to understand that Rush short circuits debate. And in so doing, we are all paying the price. |
