Well, he could go toe-to-toe and head-to-head and fist-to-fist with old Tip O'Neill during the day, but when nightfall fell, they put their arms around each other and went off and had a beer and they were just got a buds and all that sort of thing." Well, that's a crock. That's so much myth making. They're trying to make it sound like Reagan wasn't serious about what he believed and when social time came he shelved it and put it aside and got along with these guys.

The media is talking about something quite foreign to Rush, civility. Here he accuses the media of attempting to suggest Reagan was not serious about his beliefs because Reagan and his opponents were civil towards each other. This makes absolutely no sense and is contradicted by facts. Reagan prided himself on being civil as did his opponents.

The only crock here is the innaccurate, divisive rhetoric Rush is tossing out to his loyal fans. This time, Rush is distorting Reagan's record and fashioning it into a spear for partisan attacks.
